Enigma
Height: Varies
Mass: Varies
Running Speed: Moderate
Powers:
- Mind Wipe: By merely looking at a human victim in the eyes, the Enigma is capable of wiping their mind of all memories and intelligence, leaving them dead and the entity with greater knowledge.
- Transfer: Should the need arise, the Enigma is capable of transferring its consciousness into a new host, be that host human or otherwise.
- Resurrection: By focusing its mental powers, the Enigma is capable of resurrecting those it has mind wiped, turning them into murderous drones to do its bidding.
Weaknesses: The Enigma thrives by hiding within hosts. Should the area around it be darkened or poorly lit, the host’s eyes will glow fiery red. Additionally, damage done to the host will cause changes in its physical form, revealing its identity.

History: Long ago, a race of energy-like aliens visited the Earth. Their mission a mystery, they left long before evolution could spawn man. However, one entity was accidentally left behind. That entity became the Enigma and sought refuge by living in the minds and bodies of prehistoric life. In this way, it became immortal. It lived through the age of dinosaurs for several millennia. Eventually, it took the form of a sort of missing link, a half-man and half-ape beast. In this form, it was frozen in ice and remained dormant for millions more years.
Professor Saxton made the remarkable discovery in 1906 and sought to transport the creature to Moscow for further study, unknowing of the true horror locked within the primitive thing. When one of the train’s porters investigated the crate, the creature became alive. It attacked him, siphoning his memories and knowledge. It then picked the lock, stuffed the dead body inside the crate, and resealed it. Now loose, the creature remained hidden from sight and attacked those unfortunate enough to cross it.
As the bodies piled up, an autopsy was done on the first discovered victim in the crate. Finding the man’s brain was completely smooth, Professor Saxton and Dr. Wells deduced it wiped its victims of all memories and knowledge. Soon, the thing attacked Dr. Wells. He managed to escape thanks to the intervention of Police Inspector Mirov. The Russian man fired numerous rounds into the ape-like thing. Unaware to Dr. Wells, as the creature fell, its consciousness transferred to Mirov. After autopsying the monster, the true identity of their enemy was deduced. The ape was but a mere puppet, the true killer was the extraterrestrial housed within it.
Hoping to build a ship that would allow it to escape the Earth, the Enigma sought as much knowledge that it could via targeting a Polish Count. Aided by a mad monk that could somehow sense the alien inside Mirov and believed it to be Satan, its plans slowly came to fruition until a group of Russian soldiers boarded the train. Believing the train contained rebels, they too became entwined in the unfolding chaos. When Dr. Wells suddenly turned off the lights, Mirov’s eyes blazed a bloody red. He attacked the soldiers but was wounded. The others held back from following, allowing the mad monk to follow.
With Mirov’s body too wounded to be useful anymore, Father Pujardov willingly allowed the alien to take him over. While the rest of the passengers headed for the last of the train’s cars, the soldiers readied to annihilate the Enigma. In the dark, however, they were outmatched. The creature slew them all in a matter of seconds before making its way to the Count’s car. Professor Saxton arrived just in time to stop it from killing the Countess as well. Armed with a rifle, he readied to kill it. However, the thing began to tempt him with its vast knowledge. It could very well cure mankind of any illnesses and unlock the secrets of the stars.
As Saxton was distracted, the creature began to revive its victims. The Count rose from the dead and lashed out, causing Saxton and the Countess to flee. Followed by the resurrected soldiers, they rushed to the final car. A telegraph from Moscow informed the next station to derail the train. Switching the tracks sent the train on a course for the cliffs. Just as Saxton and Dr. Wells unhitched the car, the creature watched from the locomotive as the train headed for the cliffs. It was helpless as it and its resurrected forces were plunged hundreds of feet to the unforgiving ground below. After countless millennia of life, the alien entity was finally destroyed and the final car, containing the survivors of the ordeal, slowly rolled to a stop mere inches before it would fall as well.
