History: Living in the lost city of Atlantis, the Giant Tegu hungrily awaited it next meal. When Professor Lindenbrook and the rest of his group found their way into the ruined city, the lizard patiently lay in wait for them to get near. When Lindenbrook went to light the fuse which would set off the explosives rigged to blow the rocks out of their path to the surface, the Giant Tegu made its move. Lashing out with its long tongue, the reptile captured the scientist. But before it could make a meal out of the man, Alec ran up and drove a metal chisel through its tongue, forcing it to release its prey.
Unfortunately, the explosives did too good of a job. Not only did they clear the rubble blocking the path to the surface, but they also awakened the volcano underneath their very feet. As molten rock forced its way up through the floor and walls, the humans took refuge in a ceremonial altar. The Giant Tegu climbed up onto a nearby pillar, but was knocked down by a falling boulder and buried in lava.
