History: Lurking in the depths of the Mexican forests, a creeping terror thrived. For hundreds of years, the ancient Mayans sacrificed their people to the horrible, blood-thirsty plants. When the ancient Mayans went extinct, the descendents kept the sacrifices alive and managed to isolate the plants from the rest of the world via salt. When a group of archeologists went silent, one of the team member’s brought a small batch of American tourists to the sight thinking that’d it’d be a simple day of fun.
Once the outsiders arrived, the Mayans forced them to the top of the pyramid where the nightmare began. Once hearing the sounds of a cell phone within the blackness of the ruins, an accident left Mathias crippled. The next day, Mathias’ legs were eaten through the night, leaving nothing but a few strands of bloody flesh covering his bones. Once discovering this, the others managed to sever his legs, but the hungry vines weren’t willing to stop, even after pulling his legs into the squirming mass. Later in the night, the vines managed to kill Mathias by crawling down his throat while the Americans argued back and forth.
Not long after, Stacy began to get infested with the vines. Jeff, a med student, cut two worm-like vines from her body, but she unknowingly had much more inside of her. Growing from within her cuts and scrapes, they caused her to lose her mind. In a blind fit of insanity, she tried to cut the parasites from her own body! After accidentally slashing Jeff’s hand and stabbing her boyfriend Eric, causing his death, she begged the last two to kill her.
This left just Amy and Jeff to live and try to escape later that night. While Jeff distracted the Mayans and was killed, Amy managed to escape back to the jeep and head to civilization. As she sped off, the vines that invaded her body began to wiggle just beneath her skin, anxious to kill a new, much larger world. For the first time in hundreds, possibly thousands, of years… the vines were unleashed.
