Seeking to gain immortality, the fishmen demanded she grant it to them, a demand which the princess happily agreed to much to their surprise. Hime then revealed that she could only grant half-immortality to the dead, and proceeded to ask which of them would like to die first.
Upon hearing this, the fishmen knew they were beaten. In an effort to avoid further punishment from the royal family, a duel was arranged between Hime and the giant fishman, Poseidon. If Hime won, they would be punished as she saw fit. If Poseidon won, all would be forgiven. Liza stepped in just before the duel started and offered herself to fight in Hime’s place, which Hime accepted. The giant fishman was defeated in the ensuing battle, the fishmen feared what terrible punishments they would earn from Hime. To their shock and relief, the princess said their transgressions meant nothing to her and that she understood their hatred of the royal family. They then pledged their allegiance to her personally, offering their aid should she ever need it.
