Pulse Ghosts
Height: Not Available
Mass: Not Available
Powers:
- Life Absorb: The pulse ghosts are capable of literally sucking the life straight out of their victims, drying them of the very will to live and causing their victims to commit suicide sometime in the near future. If a person doesn’t kill themselves, they will eventually disintegrate into a black, ash-like material.
- Appear: The pulse ghosts are capable of appearing anywhere within range of the signal they travel on, often appearing out of thin air in any place.
- Electro Magnetic Pulses: Due to the high amount of electromagnetic pulses the ghosts give out, they can affect nearby electronics, causing lights and screens to flicker and some electronics to completely stop working.
Weaknesses: The pulse ghosts are unable to travel past regular cell phone and Wi-Fi signals. Also, the color red somehow blocks the signal they travel on, preventing them from passing through it. Red laser lights that are shined on their bodies can also induce major pain.
First Appearance: Pulse (2006)
Other Appearances: Pulse 2: Afterlife (2008), Pulse 3: Invasion (2008)
Human Kills: Not Available
Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth
Type: Supernatural
History: Douglas Ziegler was a computer genius working on a telecom project, but his group uncovered a signal unlike that of any other. However, when Josh Ockmann hacked their system and implanted a virus, he accidently created a doorway for the dead. Like a flood, the spirits spilled into the world of the living! The dead began to spread, virtually sucking the will to live out of their victims. When Josh’s girlfriend Mattie Webber found he had hung himself, she joined forces with another hacker, Dexter McCarthy, to uncover what was happening. However, it was far too late.
The dead started to take over, causing countless suicides across the city. Dexter uncovered a virus on Josh’s computer that they hoped would be able to stop the invasion of the dead, but it didn’t. The end of the world had come, but what little was left of humanity set up save havens in the little places where there was no internet, cell phone, or television range.
Small, remote towns began to blossom, but even the smallest signal would allow the killer spirits to get in. However, some of the spirits made their desires known to their victims. Some just wanted to see their loved ones again and even have them join them in the loneliness of death, such as the case with one small family.
However, one man planned on aiding what little remained of the United States government in finding a permanent resolution. Having even captured one of the spirits, he discovered all their weaknesses while the military planned to detonate eighty-seven nuclear warheads around the Earth simultaneously to generate a large enough electromagnetic pulse to cancel out the signal the ghosts exist on thus ending the invasion. The spirits began to reach out, asking for help from the young Justine in order to stop the plan that would not only permanently destroy the wandering souls, but leave the Earth in an endless nuclear winter.
Not only did he find how to hurt the ghosts with red lasers, but also how to give them a physical manifestation should he himself ever become one. Unfortunately, while Justine did free his captured ghost and stop the mad man, the nukes went off. The warheads generated a large enough pulse to end the invasion of the dead, sending all of the wandering souls back to the blackness.
