X
Height: Indeterminable
Length: Indeterminable
Mass: Indeterminable
Crawling Speed: Moderate
Burrowing Speed: Moderate
Powers:
- Radiation: X is highly radioactive and can burn, poison, and even dissolve those that venture too close to it. Likewise, the monster can also absorb radiation and radioactive material to grow in size.
Weaknesses: None
First Appearance: X The Unknown (1956)
Human Kills: 11
Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth
Origin: Scotland
Type: Prehistoric
History: Resting below the ground of what now is Scotland, X remained dormant for centuries until being awoken to feed. Its stirring caused a small Earthquake in the countryside and created a massive crevice in the ground. The blob-like mass began to track down and absorb the nearest radioactive materials, but unfortunate for it, the only suitable things were small amounts located in a nearby lab. The creature, only a few nights later, attacked a child when he ventured too close to its home. The boy wasn't killed at first, but died just a few days later in the hospital from severe radiation poisoning. Not much later, X again struck, this time at the local hospital where it killed one of their doctor's. On its way back to its underground lair, the radioactive monster killed two more humans, this time in the form of two military guards assigned to the area.
Now fully aware that they were dealing with something completely new, the group of scientists decided to explore the underground lair. Peter Elliott, at first, found only a body, but then something much worse! Fortunately he was pulled out before it could attack him. Only minutes later, the military was there to kill whatever it was. Charges were detonated under the ground and the entire fissure filled in with concrete. The sealing of the opening only enraged the massive creature and soon it broke free of the ground, heading directly for the largest source of radiation: the atomic research institute!
It didn't take long for the beast to kill again. Four people in a car were murdered before it reached the institute. On its arrival, X killed yet another man as it looked for the largest meal it'll ever have. It crawled upon the roof and began to absorb the radiation and also grow in size before leaving to return back to its underground lair. The creature suddenly changed its course, heading past the local church where dozens were held up. Fortunately the creature, despite its change in course, was still heading back to the fissure where a new plan to stop it was underway.
Two electronic censors awaited to literally suck the radiation out of the monster, but even on a smaller scale test, the result included a devastating explosion that could kill anyone caught between the censors. Fortunately, when X crossed between the rotating censors, its energy was quickly drained and the creature exploded much like the smaller test before it, but while X was destroyed, who knows what other strange mysterious thrive at the center of this lonely little world.
