Caltiki
Height: Indeterminable
Length: Indeterminable
Mass: Indeterminable
Powers:
- Absorb: Much like the smaller amoeba, Caltiki is capable of absorbing organisms to increase its own size.
- Mummification: Those that touch Caltiki and manage to escape its lethal grasp will be instantly poisoned. The exact way this poison works in unknown, but it slowly mummifies the flesh before the poison reaches the blood stream and then the brain.
- Radiation Revive: Caltiki itself, along with severed pieces of itself, are capable of being revived if introduced to enough radiation. When introduced to the radiation, the creature will also begin to quickly grow and multiply.
Weaknesses: Is easily burnt and killed by fire.
First Appearance: Caltiki the Immortal Monster (1959)
Human Kills: Not Available
Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth
Origin: Mexico
Type: Prehistoric
History: Centuries old, Caltiki was believed to be an immortal God by the Mayans. The ancient people would give the goo-like, single-celled organism a sacrifice nearly every month, but when a passing comet increased the radiation level in the atmosphere, the wrath of Caltiki befell on the Mayans. The race were forced from their homes and quickly moved out of its area and never returned. Centuries later, the monster had returned back to the cave in which it originally crawled fourth. The beast survived beneath a lake until the modern exploration years and its slumber was disturbed. Two were attacked by the beast when they ventured too close to its lair, but when the survivor returned back to the camp, it only spawned more to seek out what had happened.
Lead by Dr. John Fielding and Max Gunther, the group never once expected to actually find the immortal that was behind the legend of Caltiki. A diver went beneath the water to find the remains of the missing man, but only found a graveyard of skeletons and gold before he himself became Caltiki's next unfortunate. Following the near-dead man to the surface, Caltiki attacked the group relentlessly. Max, seeking the gold the diver had, ran back to snatch the bag but fell into the beast's body. John returned and managed to chop off a chunk of Caltiki and saved Max's life. The two escaped the clutches of Caltiki, but the blob-like predator was still coming. Seeing his chance, John took control of a gas truck parked outside and crashed it into the beast as it moved outside. The resulting explosion burned the monster to ash, but Max still had a large chunk attached to his arm.
Days later, after removing the piece, it was discovered that Max was poisoned and the creature could be revived via radiation. While Max went insane and escaped, the same passing comet that caused Caltiki to grow gigantic centuries ago was about to pass over Mexico City! The piece left at the hospital returned to life but was burned before it could get massive, but a secondary piece at John's house was already starting to pulsate with life. At the same time, Max entered the home of the scientist in hopes of killing him and his wife, but his desire for blood was soon to ended by the immortal monster. Caltiki, now grown significantly and doubling in number by the minute, attacked and killed him as it chased Dr. Fielding's wife and kid upstairs.
Thankfully, after the attack at the Hospital, the Mexican army had been notified at the ever-growing danger at the home. The tanks and soldiers, all loaded with flamethrowers, were dispatched to the house. The soldiers began to burn the smaller creatures, allowing John to save his family. As they ran to safety, the entire house began to fall apart as a massive mountain of slime rose up from within. The largest Caltiki since the original, the creature began to move closer, threatening to crush the flamethrower-equipped soldiers. Fortunately for Mexico and perhaps the entire world, the tanks burst from the wall with streams of spiraling fire erupting from their cannons. Unable to cope with such temperatures, even the great Caltiki was burnt to a crisp.
