Blob
Height: Indeterminable
Length: Indeterminable
Tentacle Length: Indeterminable
Mass: Indeterminable
Crawling Speed: Fast
Climbing Speed: Fast
Powers:
- Tentacles: Having no definite form at all, the Blob is capable of extending out tentacles from any part of its mass at any time in order to ensnare prey.
- Dissolve: Having no mouth and no way to actually feed on its prey like a normal creature, the Blob resorts to virtually pulling its victims into its gooey body where its acidic properties quickly kick in. The Blob can dissolve an adult human in less than a few minutes.
- Accelerated Growth: Linked to the amount of victims it can dissolve and absorb, the Blob has an accelerated growth, capable of growing from the size of a baseball to the side of a small building in less than a day. Furthermore, if a piece of the Blob is removed, it can also remain alive and grow should it be able to absorb enough prey.
- Stretch: The Blob can stretch its body out to become thin enough to creep under doors or big enough to cover entire walls.
Weaknesses: The Blob will turn into a crystal-like state when exposed to the cold.
First Appearance: The Blob (1988)
Human Kills: Not Available
Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth
Origin: Earth’s Orbit
Type: Man-Made / Alien
History: When the United States government sent up a sort of bacteria into orbit around the Earth, they had no idea just what type of creature they would end up creating. The monster's movement threw the man-made satellite out of orbit and caused it to crash down into the woods of Arborville. The thought-to-be-meteor was discovered by an old man whom started to poke the meteor with a stick, and the Blob crawled on top of it. Not knowing what the thing was, the man lifted up the stick higher where the creature attached itself to his hand. In pain, the old man ran through the woods where he came in contact with Brian Flagg. Wishing to help the old man, Flagg ran behind him until he was bounced off the hood of a car while trying to cross the road.
Brian, and the occupants of the car; Meg Penny and Paul Taylor, rushed the man to the hospital. Flagg left the man to the doctors, but as time passed, the acid-like creature began to grow in size as it fed on the his body, slowly dissolving him! Paul was the first to notice and rushed to get the doctor, and upon discovering the body was half gone, tried to call for the police. Before he could give anything else but his location, the Blob fell on the teenager from the ceiling. Hearing his screams, Meg ran into the room only to see her date being devoured alive by the monster. She tried to free him, but only resulted in removing his arm and flinging herself back, knocking herself out when her head banged off the wall.
The Blob then left the hospital and proceeded into the woods once again. It came across a pair of loving teenagers and promptly devoured them too before entering the sewers that led into the town. It struck the diner where Meg and Flagg were at, talking about what had happened and what to do. The creature pulled one of the workers down the drain before chasing the pair into the freezer. Forced to retreat by the coldness, the Blob fed on the diner's owner before retreating down into the sewers once again. By now, the team that created the alien had finally arrived in the town, but to make matters worse, the creature attacked the movie theater!
Hoping to rescue her brother and his friend, Meg rushed to the theater and the three quickly escaped. The gooey monster burst through the steel doors and followed the group into the sewers. Just as they rushed to an opening, the Blob struck, taking one of the kids while Meg and her brother escaped. Kevin managed to squeeze through the bars of the opening, but Meg was forced to stay put until a small unit of soldiers distracted the monster, allowing her to jump down and be rescued by Brian who heard their location on one of the soldier’s radios.
The group managed to escape its clutches and ran into a survivor of the solider garrison and managed to blow open the sealed manhole with his rocket launcher. Upon reaching the surface of the streets, the Blob quickly attacked Dr. Meadows, the leader of the team, before the other soldiers unleashed nearly everything they had on it.
It didn't work.
The acidic predator burst upward, smashing and devouring anyone that couldn't outrun it. The town, save for Brian, ran into the town hall. Discovering the cold was its weakness, they managed to hold the monster off with fire extinguishers until Brian arrived, driving a massive snow maker! He began to cover the monster with the freezing chemicals, driving its attention off the structure. The Blob flipped the truck over and began to cover it. Before it could crush the vehicle and devour Brian, Meg once again got its attention using one of the dropped machineguns. As the Blob crawled toward her, she planted one of the timer bombs on the removed barrel of chemicals that fell off when the truck was flipped.
Brian managed to escape and rescue Meg before the bomb went off, the resulting explosion destroying the barrel and creating a snowstorm. The freezing temperatures quickly froze the Blob, saving the town from certain doom. However, as life returned to normal, one made had acquired a small piece of it. Permanently scarred and twisted after his encounter with the Blob, the local reverend waited for God’s sign to unleash the man-made demon once more.
