History: One of the largest of all creatures in all creation, even mightier than the huge whales and just as deadly as the dangerous Mega Shark, the Giant Octopus was frozen in the Arctic when engaged in battle with its ancient nemesis. When an experimental sonar transmitter made a pod of whales go crazy and start ramming the ice shelf, the ice gave out. Thousands of tons of ice shattered and soon two prehistoric monsters of epic proportions were freed onto the world of man! One was the Mega Shark, a gigantic predator and king of the seas. It took claim of the waters off the western coast of the United States. The Giant Octopus made its way to the east and began to attack boats at sea before ripping apart an oil rig, leaving only one survivor. The Japanese wanted to keep it a secret, but when news got out a Mega Shark was attacking the United States, the Japanese joined forces.
Like the Americans did with the shark, the Japanese tried to contain the octopus in Tokyo Bay, but it only resulted in massive collateral damage and the bay area was in ruins. The octopus was back at sea, and while the superpowers played with the idea of using nukes against the rampaging monsters, a new plan was devised to draw them together to end what they started millions of years ago: a fight!
As the Mega Shark was confronted by the full force of the US Navy, the Japanese lured the octopus in. When it arrived, it swatted at the pitiful submarines in its path, destroying them all before attacking its old enemy. Using its tentacles, the Giant Octopus tried to ensnare Mega Shark, but one of its tentacles was severed by the shark’s powerful jaws. The two parted and the octopus turned its attention back on the submarines.
It attacked and almost destroyed the Japanese submarine Typhoon before round two between the monsters began. This time there would be no separation of the two as they tore into one another. As flesh ripped and tentacles snapped, the pair dueled back and forth in the churning water until the Mega Shark bit hold of its head. Sinking its huge teeth in, the shark brought the octopus to its end, but as its life drained, the octopus coiled its many tentacles around the shark, holding him tight. As the two began to sink into the deep blue abyss, the Mega Shark’s life began to drain, unable to breath without moving underwater. The Giant Octopus dragged its opponent to the grave with him… or so everyone thought. The Giant Octopus’ last attempt at killing its nemesis was in vain. The Mega Shark survived.
