History: A species of ancient worm-like predatory monsters at least sixty-feet in length, these creatures laid dormant for eons. When war broke out in the desert and a mine shaft was bombed, the blast was so powerful it shook the underground lair of the creatures. At least three burrowed to the surface where they effortlessly slaughtered the Taliban forces that had recently captured a small squad of American soldiers.
Freed from their restraints, the Americans ventured outside, oblivious to the real horror that waited just below their feet. Soon, however, that would all change. When their rescue, a Blackhawk helicopter, came in, one of the worms burst from the Earth, grabbing the vehicle with its jaws and smashing it to the desert floor.
Fleeing in terror, the soldiers attracted the attention of the worms. The beasts had them cornered until they managed to hotwire an abandoned truck, and even then the things chased them. They managed to find shelter in a Taliban base while the hostile forces were away. When one of the workers helped them escape, the creatures began to chase them again, but couldn’t keep up with the speeds the truck had reached.
They were forced to fall back, but when a new battle raged between those same Americans and the Taliban that tracked them, the worms emerged again, feeding on the surprised terrorists. Soon the group of soldiers, now much smaller in number, managed to escape, but the worms weren’t far behind again.
After being trapped in a small shaft, the two surviving soldiers and a little girl managed to escape their wrath yet again. With the creatures right behind them, Lieutenant Richard Stanley strapped a suicide bomb around his waist before they ran toward the highest shelter they could see: a one-hundred foot mine shaft in the distance.
Using grenades to draw the creatures away, the trio only made it so far before running out of bombs. As one of the worms burst from the ground, ready to feed, an explosion tore through its body. Approaching from the sky, another rescue chopper had arrived. After picking up the three survivors, the helicopter flew back into the air, but the final serpent rose up.
Its jaws ready to crash the second rescue helicopter, the worm roared. Knowing what he had to do, the Lieutenant leaped from the open doors. Just as the worm’s mouth closed around his body, he pushed the button and a ball of fire tore out of the worm’s body. Headless, the last serpent fell to the ground.
