History: A walking tank and a juggernaut amongst the other spiders, the Giant Tarantula wondered the outskirts of the town for food. It soon came across Harlan’s trailer and flipped it over before returning to town to help the other arachnids in the invasion. Once at the mall, the massive spider used its vast strength to rip the steel doors apart and let the many mutant arachnids inside. This action forced the survivors to venture into the mines beneath the mall for safety.
Again, the great strength of the Giant Tarantula was called upon so it could move a forklift blocking the entrance. As the smaller creatures flooded the caverns, the tarantula followed behind, eager to feed on the flesh of its soon-to-be victims. Unfortunately, the Giant Tarantulas plans of feeding were put to an end after the methane in the mine was ignited, engulfing the tank-sized man-eater in a ball of fire.

First Appearance: Eight Legged Freaks (2002)

History: Being fed contaminated, radioactive crickets, a small number of jumping spiders escaped into an old mine system after being released from their cages by mistake. In the darkness of the underground caverns, they began to grow in size and hunger, and soon they ventured out into their surrounding world. The agile monsters took down a number of teenaged dirt bikers before returning back to the mines with their prey to feed.
Later on, more of the frenzied killers attacked the town with the countless other mutant arachnids. Fortunately for the town’s survivors, the spiders were eventually killed in the mines in which they called home after the methane inside was set off, obliterating the spiders in a catastrophic fireball.

Giant Orb Weaver Spider (Male)
Height: Not Available Length: Not Available Mass: Not Available
Running Speed: Fast Crawling Speed: Fast
Powers: - Webbing: The male Giant Orb Weaver Spiders can spew forth a stream of thick webs from their abdomens, using this to quickly cocoon victims alive.
Weaknesses: None
First Appearance: Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
Human Kills: Not Available Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth Origin: United States (Arizona) Type: Mutant
History: Tiny and ferocious compared to some other spiders, the orb weaver breed was unlike that of any other. They often hunted in packs and took their prey back to the female, and whichever brought back the best gift would gain the exclusive mating rights! Unfortunately, after being set free from their cages and growing to gigantic sizes from the radioactive crickets they were being fed, the spiders didn’t change their ways, only their prey.
Now hunting humans, the Giant Orb Weavers threatened to sacrifice the whole town to their ugly queen, but a handful of heroes stood in their way. Chasing the survivors into the mines, the spiders flocked together in a flood of exoskeleton bodies and legs before the methane in the mine was set off. The resulting ball of fire consumed the swarm of arachnids and destroyed every last mutant spider.

Giant Orb Weaver Spider (Female)
Height: Not Available Length: Not Available Mass: Not Available
Running Speed: Fast
Powers: - Poison: The female Giant Orb Weaver Spider, like the normal female orb weavers, can inject a deadly poison into her prey. This poison will begin to liquefy the insides, allowing her to feed.
Weaknesses: Certain types of smells will cause the female Giant Orb Weaver spider to become confused and dizzy, allowing prey to escape.
First Appearance: Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
Human Kills: Not Available Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth Origin: United States Type: Mutant
History: Waiting in the darkness of the abandoned mine, the massive female orb weaver quickly began to grow in size after being set free from her cage in an accident. As the mating season began, the males began to spread out into the open to catch the best prey that could secure them a night with the ugly arachnid. After escaping into the mines, the human survivors soon came across the body-filled nest that also hid the female. Unfortunately, wanting to rescue Gladys, Chris stayed behind. He found his old friend, but soon the female found them both! The two took off on a dirt bike as the power was restored to the mine from the outside.
The female orb weaver and the many mutant spiders took chase, unaware of the doom that was soon to come. The electrical current struck the empty light socket that had been outfitted with a pack of matches to set off the methane. In a blistering fireball, the female orb weaver, her male minions, and hundreds of other mutant spider species were completely obliterated.

Digging traps in the dirt, the creatures waited for the orb weavers to flush out their human prey. The predators burst from the ground as the humans tried to reach their vehicles, but not even their keen skill could grasp every fleeing person.
After the rest of their prey was either killed or captured, the Giant Trap Door Spiders regrouped with the other arachnids to invade the mall. After driving the survivors into the mines, the creatures were destroyed when the methane in the caverns was ignited, burning the man-eating arachnids in a blistering fireball.
