History: During the height of the Cuban missile crisis, an American submarine sunk a Soviet submarine. Inside the Russian vessel, the restraints on several barrels of nuclear waste snapped and the canisters were carried out of the hull from the torpedo impacts. Thankfully for the entire world, the crisis passed without any further incident and the sinking of the submarine was denied by the Russians. However, the waste that spilled out had an untold affect on the natural sea life of the region, especially a species of gigantic octopus.
Over the next four decades, a giant-sized octopus began to sink numerous ships within the area known as the Devil’s Eye. Numerous researchers claimed it was another Bermuda Triangle, but the region’s disturbing past didn’t stop the Americans from using it to transport captured terrorist Casper back to the United States via submarine. Unable to resist such a large prey, the octopus began a series of attacks on the vessel, nearly sinking it several times. When torpedoes and mines failed to stop the marauding cephalopod, the creature managed to smash the submarine into an underwater mountain range and cripple it.
With nothing to stop it, the huge cephalopod made several more advances on the doomed submarine. When the reactor of the submersible went critical and blew, it was believed by the few survivors that the blast destroyed the sea monster. However, as they made it to surface and were brought onboard a hijacked cruise ship seeking to free Casper, the giant leviathan attacked ferociously. It devoured Casper as he attempted to flee the ship and returned to the depths, but it wouldn’t take long for it to come again.
In order to save the hundreds of lives onboard, CIA agent Roy Turner returned to the escape pod and dove down into the darkness. Armed with Casper’s bomb, he piloted the small submersible into the path of the octopus and allowed it to devour it as he escaped. The resulting blast completely destroyed the huge man-eater, saving the many innocent lives threatened by it and Casper’s terrorist followers.
Unfortunately, while this nightmare had ended, a brand new one was about to begin within the confines of New York City harbor!
A second mutated octopus found its way to the coast and began to feed on divers and tourists within the harbor. After it fed on his partner, harbor patrol officer Nick Hartfield failed to convince his colleagues of the creature’s existence. When the truth became known, it was already too late. They found its lair in the center of the harbor and a team of armed divers was dispatched to kill it. Upon being hit with an explosive harpoon, the immense octopus was wounded and caused a partial collapse within the underwater tunnel of the streets!
With dozens of people trapped within the tunnel, Nick continued to battle the deep sea monster and managed to swim through its tentacles. He planted a bomb on its bulbous body, wounding the eight-armed predator and sending it into retreat. However, just after rescuing all those trapped in the tunnel, the octopus returned! Emerging from the water, the beast lashed out at the survivors, but Nick instantly reacted. Firing the last explosive harpoon, he hit the creature in the jaws and successfully blew it apart, saving the people yet again.
