History: In the dark waters of the everglades, terror waits. Mutated by leaking radiation from the Cape Canaveral rocket station, ordinary leeches were transformed into vicious monsters. A pair of man-sized, blood thirsty killers took refuge in an underwater cavern where they dragged their prey and slowly drained them dry. The numbers of dead and missing slowly began to rise, but notice was only given when one of the things abducted the local Liz Walker and her lover.
After dynamite brought several bodies to the surface, Steve Benton, a local game warden, and his girlfriend and her father, discovered the creatures. With the help of the local law enforcement, Steve and Doc descended into the water in search for the cave that housed the two leeches and the missing Liz. Once seeing the approaching diver, the things attacked. Harpoon guns and knives had no affect on its soft flesh and it continued on undeterred, even as Liz finally floated to the surface. The two divers managed to kill the leech at long last, stabbing it repeatedly with knives before fleeing.
With one creature still alive, the group planted more dynamite in the underwater cave. Over one-hundred sticks were set off at one time and, with a thunderous boom, the the last of the giant leeches was killed, their lifeless bodies floating to the surface. But as the people left the area, the familiar sound of the leeches began to call again and a slimy body broke the surface of the water. At least one had survived and the terror would surely begin anew. Only time would be able to tell when.
