History: What was once a simple fish in the Han River mutated into a mutated monstrosity after years of toxic pollution dumped by the Americans. The toxic chemicals gave birth to a hideous monstrosity, and as it attacked the area around the river, it gobbled up anybody unfortunate enough to get caught in its frenzied rampage. As hundreds ran in terror, it grasped the young Hyun-seo with its tail and retreated back into the river with her father Gang-Du watching in horror. Not long after, both the American government and South Korean government began their own search and destroy mission for the monster.
Not long after, a special announcement was made that declared the creature was host to a new deadly virus. While the Park family devised a plan to escape the medical hospital that was keeping all the survivors and anyone whom came in contact with them prisoner, the creature continued its attacks, killing soldiers that now paraded around the river’s banks.
Gwoemul, as the monster was now being called, soon attacked two kids and deposited their bodies down into the sewer with Hyun-seo. While the youngest boy survived the encounter, the other was carelessly killed, but now the beast had two pets in its home. Not satisfied with the damage it had done already, the monster began to stalk the Park family and watched them from outside the trailer. A single shot enraged it to no end and it effortlessly flipped the home over, but a second shot to its face temporarily stunned it, allowing the family to escape, but another shot awoke it from its daze and sent it on the run. While the soldiers patrolling the area rushed in, Gwoemul killed Hie-bong, leaving only the two brothers and sister to kill the creature.
The group split up once Gang-Du was recaptured, but all attempts to find Hyun-seo by Nam-il and Nam-Joo didn’t stop. While searching for the girl, Nam-Joo was knocked unconscious and sent flying by the angered mutant. Luckily she survived and kept safe inside a small area where the monster couldn’t reach. The creature soon returned back to its lair and after throwing up countless bones that it couldn’t digest, decided to take a nap. Hyun-seo made her move to try and escape, but was caught and soon she, along with the small boy who survived one of its attacks earlier, were eaten alive!
Finding the creature’s lair at long last, Gang-Du gave chase once seeing his daughter’s arm hanging from its mouth. He caught up with the beast just as agent yellow, a toxic bio-agent, was unleashed on the area. As the creature struggled to move, Gang-Du pulled his daughter and the boy out of its maw, but the beast was far from dead. Both Nam-il and Nam-Joo watched on as he carried his dead daughter away, but now the three sought nothing more than revenge. With the aid of a homeless, the three managed to set the beast on fire before Gang-Du rammed a pipe into its maw! The combination of flames and the pain from the pipe drove the monster to death, and while Hyun-seo died, Gang-Du adopted the small boy that managed to survive the ordeal.
