Discovering what was to become his beloved creation, Dr. Steve Malceno called upon a group of animal rights activists to raid the lab and set free the animals. As the police showed up to arrest the activists, it gave him enough time to prep the Outsider for escape.
Unfortunately, before he could tranquilize the creature, three of the teens entered the lower floors that held the beast. The activists knocked Dr. Malceno unconscious and were then attacked and slaughtered by the vicious Outsider. The monster escaped the complex, tracking Einstein, the brilliant golden retriever in which he had a telepathic link with.
Both animals soon came across a small band of marines that were heading toward a low level security prison. The Outsider slaughtered the two marines while the dog formed a bond with Paul Ferguson, the man whom was trialed to spend six months in prison. Knowing nobody would believe him, Paul looked for shelter at his ex-wife’s house. However, after the ex-marine left his ex’s home, the Outsider made its move and killed Sarah.
After calling up Barbara White, Einstein’s trainer, and leaving to return Einstein to her custody, the Outsider again attacked. It slaughtered two teenagers whom visited the same hotel as Paul, but Dr. Malceno managed to track the creature down and tranquilize it. He returned the creature to his home, but the beast suddenly attacked its creator! Instead of killing him, it merely took one of his eyes. When Paul and Barbara located Dr. Malceno’s home, they discovered numerous filings on the creature just as it began to rip through the doors between them. They escaped and the Outsider once again began to track the dog in which it was determined to kill.
As the Outsider stalked the streets, Paul decided to take the fight to the creature. He entered the sewers heavily armed, but the Outsider proved to be too much. It tricked the ex-marine and nearly killed him. Paul managed to escape, but the Outsider made its way to Barbara’s apartment! At the same time, Dr. Malceno returned to once again try to regain control of the monster. As Barbara and Einstein fled, the Outsider killed its creator.
Following the pair to the roof, it had them cornered until Paul intervened, attacking the killer with a bowie knife. As it struggled and Paul gained distance between the monster, he began to unload on it with a shotgun, shooting it numerous times. As it collapsed near death, its half-brother Einstein brought the dying creature its stuffed bear, the only thing that it had ever shown compassion for. Holding the stuffed animal in its hands, the Outsider finally died.
