History: In order to develop a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, an isolated submarine refueling station was converted into an advanced laboratory to harness brain tissue from Mako sharks. Headed by the brilliant Dr. Susan McAlester, the scientists increased the size of the three sharks’ brains. However, their tampering came with unforeseen side affects. The increased brain size allowed the sharks to become far more intelligent, dangerous, and larger. One of the sharks even managed to escape and nearly killed a boatful of partying teenagers. Thankfully, Carter was able to retrieve the shark and bring it back before any loss of life was made.
In order to assure their work with their financial backers, Dr. McAlester planned on harnessing the tissue and developing the cure as soon as possible. However, the Mako suddenly became active, biting the arm off one of the brilliant minds! An unforeseeable nightmare quickly unfolded as the shark was purged back into the depths. As a hurricane battered the complex above the water, a rescue helicopter began to tow the wounded man up.
The cable jammed and suddenly released, plunging the injured mortal into the sharks’ domain! Quickly, one of the man-eaters grabbed the human, pulling the cable along with him. Unable to escape, the helicopter was slammed into the upper stories of the facility, destroying it while the same shark launched the doomed man into the large, underwater window. The thick glass soon shattered, filling the complex with thousands of gallons of seawater. The intelligent predators began herding the humans through the flooded labs, forcing them to find new exits which meant flooding even more levels to gain access to others.
As more of the facility sunk, the prospect of freedom for the three Makos became closer. However, two of the sharks were slain, one by explosion and the other by electrocution by Dr. McAlester herself. With only three survivors left, they managed to reach the surface. They quickly realized what the deadly creatures had forced them to do. Refusing to allow the largest to escape into the open ocean, they plotted to destroy her. Susan jumped into the water in order to draw her in close, but she was unable to escape. Devouring its creator, the shark turned to Carter. The shark wrangler managed to avoid its snapping jaws, but the explosive harpoon launched from Preach accidently pinned his leg to its fin! As the shark rapidly swam toward the exit, ripping the human off her body in the process, the cable was connected to a battery. The electrical current detonated the explosives on the harpoon, destroying the fierce beast just after it managed to reach the ocean.
