A.P.E.X. Units
AKA: Advanced Prototype Extermination Units
Height: Not Available
Mass: Not Available
Powers:
- Hand Cannon: In place of normal right hands, the A.P.E.X. units are armed with a large cannon that can generate large, grenade-like explosions upon impact.
- Shoulder Rocket: The A.P.E.X. units can launch highly explosive, miniature rockets from their shoulders.
Weaknesses: Enough attacks can cause the A.P.E.X. units to temporarily shut down. When this happens, their CPU disks will emerge from a compartment in their abdomen. If this disk is replaced with another, the machines will self-destruct.
First Appearance: A.P.E.X. (1994)
Human Kills: Not Available
Fight Record: None
Home World: Earth
Origin: United States
Type: Man-Made
History: By 2073, humanity has perfected time travel. In order to prevent biological outbreaks in the past that could severely alter the future, scientists relied on drones to collect samples and research. When one machine was sent back the year 1973, an unexpected event occurred: a small family was nearby the drone. To prevent the drone from eliminating the family, Dr. Nicholas Sinclair did the unthinkable and traveled back in time. When the others of the team of scientists dispatched an extermination unit to bring him back, all hell broke loose. The events caused a paradox and created an alternative timeline. When Sinclair reached the family, he infected them with an unknown virus from the future.
The virus spread like a plague, destabilizing the future while the lab continued to automatically send extermination units to contain the outbreak. With nearly all the Earth infected, an immense war broke out! Humanity was all but wiped out as civilization and governments crumbled from the virus and the hordes of robots. When the future lab realized what was happening, a single portal was opened to bring Dr. Sinclair back.
When he arrived, he was in a warzone that he created. His friends had no knowledge of their previous lives and even his wife had fallen ill to the disease. Knowing the only way to reverse the damage was to open a new window to the correct timeline, Sinclair got together a team and underwent a journey through the desert and mountains to reach the abandoned lab. Fending off many of the marauding machines, Dr. Sinclair managed to open that window to the correct timeline. Slowly, the paradox began to fix itself before he leaped into the portal. Emerging from the opposite side, he prevented himself from going back in time and thus saved humanity from a century-long way.
