History: Onboard an isolated oil rig, a team of brilliant scientists sought to unlock the secret to immortality. Project Proteus, as it was called, would turn living tissue of 10% water to just 5%. Funded by the multi-billionaire Mr. Leonard Brinkstone the project found success when tested on a great white shark. The scientists, however, created their own demise. The creature became amphibious and began running amok. With every person it killed, it gained their knowledge and form. In no time at all, their creation, nicknamed Charlie, devoured and assimilated everyone.
When a yacht belonging to drug smugglers sunk, the group found refuge on the abandoned rig. They stumbled right into the nightmare. When Charlie began to attack and feed on the smugglers, he developed a heroin addiction. This addiction allowed the beast to go dormant long enough for Dr. Shelley to regain control and record a tape to warn the newcomers of the danger. However, it was far too late.
One by one, the beast claimed their lives and identities until only Alex, an undercover DEA agent, and Linda remained. After they blew up one of Charlie’s imitations with a grenade, it was hoped they had killed it. When they returned with gasoline to burn the globs of slime, the remains had vanished. At the same time, Mr. Brinkstone and a helicopter full of hired guns arrived to see why all communications with the rig had shut down. After being confronted by the two survivors and the imitation of Dr. Shelley, Mr. Brinkstone had his doubts about the research until Alex shot the imposter numerous times.
Rising up from the ground, Charlie fully transformed! He slaughtered the mercenaries and Mr. Brinkstone, but not before the eccentric old man triggered the rig’s self-destruct. Returning to the form of Alex’s partner, the man-made demon followed Linda and Alex. The creature demanded the heroin. Once given a small amount, the beast took its true shape again. The tentacled, walking shark monster lashed out at Alex as Linda escaped. He dropped the rest of the heroine and began to pour gasoline on the monster’s hulking form as he devoured the drug. Once done feeding the habit, Charlie turned his attention back on Alex. The monster caught his leg with a tentacle, but the man managed to escape via his gun. He then fired a flare gun, igniting the gasoline covering Charlie’s body! The shark demon caught aflame and took chase again, even as his flesh melted away. Unable to see, the monster stumbled off the edge of the balcony and fell to the lower story, blowing up on contact. What little remained of the unnatural horror was completely destroyed when the entire rig self-destructed, leaving absolutely no evidence of Charlie’s existence. Alex and Linda’s remarkable story wouldn’t be believed.
